Employees that work in healthcare have to read interactive digital publications every day. They do not want to sit in front of boring slides to learn information crucial for their profession. How design can engage an eLearning medical design?

Visual content is attractive, stimulating, and much more interesting than just text. In eLearning, it is an easy way to enhance content. When information is visualized, it can convey ideas simply; besides, nowadays students are increasingly visual learners, and a vital part of the learning experience involves learners’ interactions with the screen.

Creating well-designed eLearning courses

A well-designed eLearning course improves readability and helps learners to navigate through a particular course’s content smoothly, and it can benefit from an editorial design. Editorial design is created to capture the attention of the audience and make information easier to understand.

It includes the right combination of visuals and text and the layout on the page. Good editorial design controls the eye’s movement across the screen from impressive visuals, over the most important text and then to additional information. The layout with different text blocks provides several reading entry points. It can also include interactive elements, such as clicking on buttons to open text boxes that explain specific parts of a visual.

Without the right graphic design, which includes images, typography, layout, and color scheme, even the best-written content would be confusing to learners. ELearning medical design is a must for all professionals in the medical and pharmaceutical industry.

Elements to include in your slides

Visuals: they capture attention in the first place and provide the main information. It can be a picture, a video, an interactive image or infographic, etc. The caption contextualizes the information in the visual if necessary.

Headline: it is the second element to be noticed, which describes the take-home message in a short sentence.

Copy: it is the main text and describes the information of the overarching story but does not repeat the visual. It should be as short as possible to address the learner directly.

Interactive elements: prevent overload and discourage showing too much text at once. This way, the learner can click on buttons to access additional information they need and choose when to leave out topics which they are already familiar with. This means they are actively learning and paying close attention to the material they need to learn. Textboxes: they can be used to outsource specific topics (definitions, history, examples etc.) and to structure the text and provide additional reading entry points.

Control elements: the learner uses these buttons to navigate to the next and previous pages and can also contain a progress indicator.

Using the right combination of these elements on your eLearning ppt, you can easily improve your eLearning medical design for developing engaging eLearning tools.
