Why 3DforScience Won the Platinum Award

We are thrilled to announce that 3DforScience has won the Platinum Award in the “Education and Virtual Reality experience” category for our collaboration with NYBCe (New York Blood Center Enterprises). This award recognizes our VR Training Experience, designed to help phlebotomy professionals practice venipuncture before facing real patients, more often, at their own pace, and in any place.

The project’s goal was to create a virtual reality environment that is not only visually compelling but also a practical tool for training. Transforming a hands-on medical skill into an immersive VR experience required a careful balance between scientific accuracy and interactive design. Every detail, from the anatomy of veins to realistic hand interactions, was crafted to provide trainees with a meaningful, risk-free learning experience.

Crafting an Immersive VR Experience

Developing this VR training was both challenging and rewarding. Our team collaborated closely with NYBCe to ensure the simulation reflected real-life procedures while enhancing the learner’s confidence and proficiency. We implemented hand tracking, shared virtual spaces, and interactive feedback systems to make the experience as close to reality as possible.

The result is a tool that allows learners to repeat procedures, receive guidance, and practice in a safe environment, improving skill retention and readiness for real-world scenarios. This combination of innovation, accuracy, and usability is what made this project stand out to the AVA Digital Awards jury.

A Team Effort and a Shared Achievement

We are incredibly proud of our team for their dedication and creativity throughout this project. This award also highlights the importance of collaboration with visionary partners like NYBCe, who trusted us to transform a critical aspect of medical training into a groundbreaking digital experience.
