Every year, International Breast Cancer Day, celebrated on October 19, is an important date to raise awareness among the population. This cancer is the most common among women, affecting more than 2 million women each year, according to the World Health Organization. Tumor surgery removal is a complicated process, but we can make it easier through 3D animation.

There are many different types of breast cancer, and common ones include ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and invasive carcinoma. Other types, such as phyllodes tumors and angiosarcoma, are less common.

Among other factors, several inherited mutated genes have been identified that can increase the chance of breast cancer. The best known are breast cancer gene 1 (BRCA1) and gene 2 (BRCA2), both of which significantly increase the risk of both breast and ovarian cancer.

To define its state, generally, a biopsy is necessary. Once a biopsy is done, breast cancer cells are tested for proteins called estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, and HER2. Tumor cells are also carefully examined in the laboratory to find out the grade. The specific proteins found and the tumor grade can help decide treatment options.

3D video as a tool to explain breast tumor surgery removal

Medical animation is used to explore and visualize human anatomy and health diseases with photorealistic images and microscopic precision. This is an attractive format because it is possible to show descriptive and explanatory content pleasantly, making it easier for patient understanding.

In this case, one of the most common complications and dangers to the patient can be when cancer cells reach the blood or lymphatic system, reaching other parts of the body and causing metastases.

If cancer cells have spread to the lymph nodes, there is a greater chance that the cells have traveled through the lymphatic system and spread. The more lymph nodes with breast cancer cells, the greater the chance of finding cancer in other organs. Because of this, finding cancer in one or more lymph nodes often affects the type of treatment. Surgery is usually needed to remove one or more lymph nodes to find out if cancer has spread.

Faced with a process as delicate as this operation, one of the simplest but most effective ways for the patient to understand what they are dealing with is through 3D animation video.

These types of processes generate fear in the patient because they cause significant disfigurement. By showing him the process, where the surgeon will collect fat from a part of the patient’s body to restore the shape of the deformed breast and inject it, this fear can be minimized.

In this way, as in the previous video, the patient will be able to see the processes to treat cancer, also the different types of medications.
